Effective July 1st, OCRRA will no longer accept televisions and computer monitors with the regular trash, or with the Large Item/Clean Up Day trash. These units must be taken to the Community Collection Center (C3), 6085 Court Street Road, Syracuse. After September 1, C3 will begin charging a fee for disposal of televisions and computer monitors.

If you do not have a valid permit, you will not be able to use the Transfer Station. Please keep track of your permit. Do not let it expire; it will only cost you more in the end. I will be checking for permits during the year. If you don't have one, you will not be able to use the site.
SAFETY When entering the transfer station area: Valid permit must be visible in the vehicle. Maximum speed is 5 mph or SLOWER. Turn OFF ignition and remove keys if driver leaves vehicle. NO bare feet allowed. DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNSUPERVISED!
CARDBOARD CONTAINERS Cardboard & Paperboard - MUST BE FLATTENED!!! 1) Pizza boxes should be emptied of all food, (scraped if needed), and they go in with the cardboard. 2) All cardboard means any and all corrugated cardboard, 3) Paperboard means boxes, including the following, but not limited to: i) CEREAL, PASTA, CRACKER, TOY, TISSUE, GIFT, BEER & SODA CARRYING CASES, also TUBES FROM GIFT WRAP, PAPER TOWELS, TOILET TISSUE, & MAILING TUBES. 4) Inner wrapping from food boxes must be removed.
NOT ACCEPTED - WAXED BOXES Usually frozen food containers. These go in the trash.
NEWSPAPER CONTAINER includes: newspapers, junk mail, & phone books. These items should be put into paper bags or bundled and tied, so they don't get blown away as you take them from your vehicle to the containers.
RECYCLING GUIDELINES All residues must be rinsed completely from all recyclables. Recyclables must be emptied from bags, boxes, etc prior to dumping into the container.
The Town of Spafford follows O.C.R.R.A. guidelines. Recyclable items can be commingled. This means that plastics, glass, and metals all go in the same container at the Transfer Station.
UNACCEPTABLE GLASS AS FOLLOWS: Should all go in the trash. 1.) Window glass 2.) Drinking glasses (these have lead molded in with the glass.) 3.) Glass or ceramic dishes (these have lead molded in with the glass.) 4.) Light bulbs 5.) Any and all ceramic
UNACCEPTABLE PLASTIC AS FOLLOWS: Should all go in the trash. 1.) Electrical appliances (such as can openers, mixers) 2.) Petroleum containers (such as oil cans)
UNACCEPTABLE METAL: These should be brought on Metal Days Pots and pans, coat hangers, and all wire Paint cans must be either dry or empty. They can go in with metal cans or in container on Metal Day. PROPANE TANKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME
METAL DAYS - 2010 The third Saturday of each month from April through October is Metal Day (4/17, 5/15, 6/19, 7/17, 8/21, 9/18, 10/16). Any items you bring in on these days must be more than 50% metal. A $10.00 fee will be charged for disposal of refrigerators or any other appliance with Freon/refrigerant. The fee is to be prepaid to the Town Clerk. A sticker will be issued and must be placed on the unit prior to disposal. With the sticker, refrigerators, etc. can be dropped off at the Transfer Station on any Metal Day.
WE CANNOT ACCEPT AT ANY TIME: GRASS CLIPPINGS, LEAVES, WOOD, CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION DEBRIS This includes treated lumber, shingles, cement blocks, tile and wallboard.
RESTRICTIONS: Fuel containers must be empty and vented. Paint cans must be dry or empty.
Any and all household batteries will be accepted on Saturdays during regular hours.

2010 CLEAN UP DAYS January 2, June 5, August 28, November 6 The above dates are when you can bring any trash that is too big to fit into the packer; i.e. couches, chairs, rugs, mattresses, large televisions. NO METAL, TIRES, CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION DEBRIS will be accepted on these days.
2010 TIRE DAYS: May 29 & Oct. 30 8 tires per permit - - Anything over 8 tires will be charged an additional fee: car tires up to and including 16" $2.00 each; truck tires over 16" $5.00 each; tractor tires $10.00 each.
Transfer Station permit renewals can be made either at the Town Clerk's office or by mail with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a check made payable to Lisa Valletta, Town Clerk. The cost is $20 per year. If you need a 2nd Blue Bin, due to the increase in recyclables, you can pick one up at the Town Hall during the Town Clerk's regular hours of business. Tuesday & Wednesday 9 a.m. -2 p.m., Thursday & Saturday 9 am. - Noon.
THE TRANSFER STATION IS OPEN SATURDAYS ONLY Mid March through December 8 a.m. -4 p.m. All other 9a.m. -4p.m. Metal Day is the 3rd SATURDAY of each month from APRIL through OCTOBER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ARE TO BE DIRECTED TO CARL WIERS (315)673-3906 or (315)289-5194.
